Spirit is beginning her journey.

She’s a new, young superhero who inherits the spotlight of the most popular hero on the planet after that legend abruptly retires. Overnight, Spirit becomes a symbol of hope to the world.

When tragedy strikes, everything changes. Spirit is linked to an event that shakes public trust, and instead of being celebrated, she’s judged, criticized, and questioned. Many believe she hasn’t earned her place, isn’t capable enough, or isn’t worthy of the abilities she wields.

Now Spirit must prove herself in a legends shadow, navigate public doubt and scrutiny, and forge her legacy.

The consequences of the tragedy connected to Spirit don’t stop with her, they send ripples across the entire New Horizon Comics Universe, establish a solid worldbuilding foundation, and allow for future stories and heroes.

Operating on the Southside of Chicago, Thema stalks alleys, rooftops, and corners most heroes never see. She wages a brutal, uncompromising war against crime, drugs, and violence in an underserved community that’s been ignored for far too long. When Thema appears, pain is dispensed, bones break, and criminals retreat.

The neighborhood quietly supports her, and law enforcement happily looks the other way.

In the aftermath of the tragic event involving Spirit, Things are changing. A native son to Lincolnwood has returned, with plans to expand his criminal enterprise, and a rising star in the police department believes that vigilantism can no longer be tolerated. 

Forged by her environment and unafraid to cross lines others won’t, Thema has become a symbol.  Is the symbol good?
